Hello all. “ROC FOR RAIDA”, my tribute to the GRAND MASTER ROC RAIDA aka Anthony Williams, officially drops TODAY!
It’s not about me this year. It’s about Raida, his wife Tye and their 3 kids (Tia, Nyra and Asia). Proceeds from the mixtape sales will be donated to Raida’s family. You can order your copy at http://www.djrobswift.com/music/
I’d like to thank the following individuals for providing me with the means to ROC FOR RAIDA!
Rane: Linda Arink, Dean Standing, Mike May and the rest of the Rane staff. You were the first to step up to the plate and facilitate me with the help I needed to put this project together. Your generosity is what propelled “Roc For Raida” from the start. I appreciate what Rane has done for me, and continues to do for Roc Raida and his family, more than words will ever describe. The difference between Rane and other companies is Rane actually cares about the DJ community. Thank you…
Scratch DJ Academy: Rob Principe, DJ Noumenon, Meredith Charney and the entire Scratch DJ Academy family. Key word in the previous sentence is FAMILY. I feel that close to you all. On September 19, 2009, approximately 14 hours after I saw Raida for the last time, I found myself at Scratch DJ Academy, teaching a new generation of DJs an art form that literally defined my relationship with Raida. I guess it’s fitting that when the news broke about Raida’s death that day, I was at Scratch Academy with FAMILY!
Mista Sinista, Total Eclipse & DJ Precision: When I asked ya’ll for help putting together this tribute, YOU ALL SHOWED UP! “That’s what the X is about, helping each other out!” Roc Raida said that!
Focused Noise: My homey Erik “GenErik” Abel… damn dude, you’ve literally been my right hand man in all of this. Your enthusiasm, focus and overall assistance in spreading the word about “Roc For Raida” has been so pivotal. I appreciate your presence in my life and the affect it’s had on my career. Thanks so much man.
Peanut Butter No Jelly Productions: Joe Pacheco, the hype surrounding “RFR” wouldn’t be what it is if it wasn’t for the amazing job you did shooting and editing the video trailer:
Thank you sir. I truly appreciate you!!!
The Artists: Rizz Kandee (CD art work), Alex Kwong (Cover photo) and “Store” aka Simon K. Burt (Roc Raida mural). This project would not be having the impact it’s having on many people if it wasn’t for the optics! Thank you fellas!
Wifey: Tess! I’m rarely home these days, constantly traveling or teaching at Scratch Academy. When I am home, I’m in front of my laptop for hours or I’m driving you crazy! Come to think about it, you’re the reason why I met Joe Pacheco in the first place. Your support for me, my career and all the baggage that comes with it has been unflinching! I love you for that babes! Thanks for being my rock!!!
Scion: Jeri Yoshizu, Daniel Hall, and the entire Scion staff. If it weren’t for Scion, I wouldn’t be touring this beautiful country of hours spreading Raida’s legacy. Your generosity is DEEPLY appreciated by me and my fans!!!
Mind Blowing Productions: Nestor Jimenez, thank you for helping me expose “RFR” to the beautiful people of China. Now let’s conquer South America, LOL. I think we’re on the verge of greatness. I appreciate your punctuality and dependability sir.
Honoroble mentions: X-men, X-ecutioners, Lothar (Daily Operation Agency), Christie Z. Pabon (Tools Of War), Tamia Truong, DJ Platurn, DJ JS-1, John Carluccio, Lesage & Casper (Old Dirty Sundays), Erin Larson, Dart Adams, Big Ghost Fase, Tiffany Lee, Jay Craig, Jenny McFarland, Anthony Culverwell, Charles Stallings, Steven Sampson, Luis Torres, Markus Rubrecht, Matthew Lambert, Andrew Song, Kenneth Diaz, Alfonzo Thomas, Timothy Lane, Adam Umbenhen, Michael Eigenmann, Edward Branch, Ryan Proctor, Juan Sertima, Omar Caldwell, Brian Dowling, Kunaal Bhalla, Omi Soda, writers/bloggers/magazines that have covered RFR… All of you have helped me jump start “Roc For Raida” the right way. Whether it was an email blast, tweet, booking or something as simple as a paypal purchase… Know that Raida’s smiling down on you all from heaven, thankful you’ve played a roll in continuing his legacy.
Peace!
DJ Rob Swift
