What more can I say, I was shocked when I heard that MCA passed away last week, another great Hip Hop Icon gone due to cancer. Just like any Hip Hop fan or supporter I started reminiscing my first knowledge of the Beastie Boys and realise that "Licensed To Ill" (Def Jam 1986) was my first album I got with my own money. I was 11 yr's old then, my first Def Jam album and having something from Def Jam Records meant something back then. I've done many tribute mixtapes (J Dilla, Guru, Gill-Scott Heron, Heavy D) but this really felt different cause it really feels like I've lost someone from my Family now knowing their first album was my jump off to many albums that i have now. Beastie Boys recorded 8 albums which is why I called it "Paul's Nasty Check Your Head Licensed To Ill Communication To The 5 Boroughs Hot Sauce Mix-Up". Well! I just couldn't just call it "The Best Of Beastie Boys" now, M-Rock already done that and a list of other DJ's whose paying their respect have too. This mixtape is mostly all their singles from "Licensed To Ill" all the way to "Hot Sauce Committee Part 2". I dedicate this Mixtape to MCA's family, Friends, close ones and fans.
