Video: Roc Raida Forever

The Beat Junkies, with the support of VTech, threw a tribute to our dear friend, the late great Grandmaster Roc Raida of the X-Ecutioners this past September. The actual event was exactly a year after the date he was buried: Sept 24th, 2009. We were able to have some members of the X-Ecutioners participate in the event, as well as having Roc Raida’s family in the house. His daughter DJ NyRaida performed a set in tribute to her father.

Download: The Official Soweto Kinch Mixtape

Yes people. The Mantus has return with another exclusive mixtape for your ear drums. Coming straight out of Birmingham with his witty wordplay and known for letting the horns blow on stage. I present to you SOWETO KINCH..... WAHOO!

Sorry! Kinda got myself a little to excited, but for all good reasons. London born, Birmingham based and world traveler Soweto kinch is one of the most talented artist from the UK. He's not just your average rapper from around the way, he's also a saxophonist that has been on many stage's with other Jazz legends from Courtney Pine to Mark De Clive-Lowe and has a few awards under his belt (MOBO Prize for best Jazz Act, Urban Music Award Best Jazz Act, BBC Radio Jazz Awards, Mercury Music Prize Ect ect...), three albums ("Conversations With The Unseen (2003)", "A Life In A Day Of B19-Tales Of The Tower Block (2006)" and his new "The New Emancipation (2010)"), his Live Box event which is mostly held at Birmingham, Aston The Drum and not forgetting The Fly Over Show which featured nearly everybody from Ty, Jonzi D, Ms Dynamite, Zena Edwards, Janet Kay, Eska .... the list goes on. I was happy to take part of this years The Fly Over Show along with DJ Winchester as we held down the after party in May. It was then i wanted to put this Mixtape together as i had a list of MC's that I wanted to work with. After getting a few unheard tracks, by Soweto and finding time, it was all go. Just like the man himself, this mixtape is very unique as it features Hip-Hop, Jazz, Live show's and guests as well as stuff from his previous albums. It was fun making this mixtape so I hope you enjoy this free download. Do check out his new album "The New Emancipation" which you can buy from iTunes.
